About Lizzette Alameda Zubey

Ms. Zubey is an associate in the firm's Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Groups. She practices primarily in the areas of intellectual property litigation and counseling, and business litigation.

Before joining Lewis and Roca, Ms. Zubey worked with the ASU Civil Practice Law Clinic representing indigent clients in civil cases and administrative proceedings under faculty supervision. Ms. Zubey also interned with the Mexican Consulate General of Phoenix, assisting in political and legislative efforts toward promoting the “matricula consular” identification card and the development of Mexican water law.

While in law school, Ms. Zubey served on the ASU College of Law Executive Moot Court Board and was selected to the Order of the Barristers.

Representative Cases/Matters

  • Obtained judgments in five cases on behalf of an insurance company against former agents who had violated their one year anti-piracy agreement after they joined a competitor.
  • Obtained emergency relief in the form of a temporary restraining order in a case involving former employees' breach of non-solicitation, non-competition and confidentiality agreements, and trade secret misappropriation by the former employees and their new employer. She later obtained a stipulated permanent injunction, which included termination of one of the former employees, and reimbursement of attorneys' fees.
  • Obtained a dismissal for forum non conveniens for an Arizona based equipment rental company in a declaratory judgment lawsuit brought by its former employee and his new employer.
  • Represented the Chairman and CEO of a pharmaceutical corporation in a dispute over control of the corporation. Obtained a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction requiring the corporation, its management group and board of directors to convene a special meeting of the shareholders and the record date for those shareholders eligible to vote.
  • Obtained an order on behalf of a Nevada corporation requiring the immediate transfer of an infringing domain name.
  • Obtained a preliminary injunction enjoining former drivers’ use of an infringing trademark in a case in which two former taxi drivers started a competing company using the same trademark.
  • Obtained a permanent injunction on behalf of an alarm monitoring company against a person using the client’s name in a telephone book listing (United States District Court, Central District of California).
  • Obtained a permanent injunction against a person for infringing an alarm monitoring company’s trademark (United States District Court, Eastern District of New York).
  • Monitor and enforce trademark rights throughout the U.S. and internationally.
  • Counsel clients in the clearance, registration, prosecution, protection and assignment of intellectual property rights.
  • Counsel clients in identifying and responding to infringement of intellectual property rights over the Internet.
  • Counsel clients in implementing and enforcing non-compete, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements to protect business interests in existing client relationships and trade secret information.
