Lewis and Roca Mourns the Passing of Partner Richard Halloran

October 27, 2009

Lewis and Roca LLP is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our cherished friend and partner, Richard A. Halloran. Rick died from pancreatic cancer on October 22, 2009.

Rick had been with the firm for more than 18 years and was the head of Lewis and Roca's litigation group. He was a key figure and integral part of the firm's growth and success.

Prior to beginning his practice at Lewis and Roca in 1991, Rick received his Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1989 and he clerked for the Hon. Alan N. Bloch, U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania, 1989-1991.

Rick was a widely known and well respected attorney handling complex litigation in Arizona. He enjoyed the high regard of both his colleagues within the firm and among his peers in the greater legal community.

He had an "AV/Preeminent Attorney" rating with Martindale-Hubbell and was recognized in the 2006-2010 editions of The Best Lawyers in America, by Woodward/White, Aiken, S.C. in the categories of Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Law. He is also listed in the 2007-2009 editions of Southwest Super Lawyers in the category of Business Litigation and in the 2009 Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel edition in the category of Business Litigation.

Managing Partner, Ken Van Winkle, notes with sadness, "Rick will be sorely missed. His contributions to the firm and his legal legacy will always be valued by the Firm and those who were lucky enough to get to know him. Lewis and Roca is a better place and we are better people because we shared 18 wonderful years with this quiet, strong, committed, determined and compassionate man."

Richard Halloran is survived by his wife, Arlene Tessmer and their two sons, Brennan and Max.
