Lewis and Roca LLP recognized Ric Tobin and thirty-seven additional firm attorneys for their commitment to pro bono service at the 13th Annual John P. Frank Pro Bono Awards Dinner held on January 22, 2007.
Tobin, Of Counsel with Lewis and Roca’s Environmental and Natural Resources group, received the John P. Frank Award for his long-standing and dedicated pro bono service. Tobin provided over 400 hours of legal services representing abused, abandoned and neglected refugee and immigrant children. Mr. Tobin is a co-chair of the Arizona-Mexico Commission Environment Committee and a volunteer at the Crossroads Legal Clinic.
2006 was a remarkable pro bono year for Lewis and Roca. The firm had a collective total of over 5,800 pro bono hours with 38 lawyers contributing more than 50 hours.
John P. Frank was a lawyer, author, law professor, civil liberties advocate and legal historian for more than 60 years, practicing with Lewis and Roca for nearly five decades. During that time, he was involved in more than 500 appeals, including the landmark decision of Miranda v. Arizona. Frank was a strong advocate of pro bono service and represented countless impoverished individuals without charge. Attending the dinner in honor of Frank was former partner and long-time friend, Judge Pat Norris of the Arizona Court of Appeals.
