About John Krieger

Mr. Krieger is a partner with the firm's Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group and concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation in both state and federal court; prosecuting and defending clients for claims including trademark infringement, copyright infringement, domain name litigation; as well as trade secret misappropriation and unfair competition. He has extensive experience litigating cases involving the infringement of intellectual property rights over the Internet, and has successfully shut down websites containing infringing material, secured the transfer of infringing domain names to his clients, and stopped the unauthorized and improper linking to clients’ websites. Mr. Krieger has also assisted and counseled clients in defensive domain name registration strategies to protect his client’s trademarks in the U.S. and around the world.

Mr. Krieger has obtained numerous judgments imposing the maximum amount of statutory damages under the Anti-cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. See, e.g., Mirage Resorts, Inc. v. Cybercom Productions, 228 F. Supp. 2d 1141 (D. Nev. 2002); Bellagio v. Denhammer, No. CV-S-00-1475-RLH-PAL, 2001 WL 34036599 (D. Nev. July 10, 2001). He has summarily defeated challenges to jurisdiction and obtained numerous preliminary and permanent injunctions against third party infringers. He has also resolved trademark, trade dress and copyright infringement actions between competitors at international Las Vegas trade shows, including obtaining emergency and permanent injunctive relief. In addition to his intellectual property experience, Mr. Krieger also has an extensive background in commercial litigation.

Mr. Krieger counsels clients on a variety of intellectual property issues so as to strengthen their intellectual property assets and avoid litigation by properly developing, documenting, registering and licensing their intellectual property rights. He has worked with numerous clients who have a presence on the Internet and has drafted website policies and agreements for them, as well as counseled clients on state and federal privacy laws. Mr. Krieger also advises clients on Internet marketing strategies and sweepstakes and contest rules. Mr. Krieger has lectured on trademarks and Internet domain name strategies in various contexts, including CLE for state and county bars.

While in law school, Mr. Krieger served as the Executive Notes and Topics Editor for the Washington University Journal of Urban and Contemporary Law. He also completed an internship with the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Illinois.
