About Robert Kouchoukos

Mr. Kouchoukos is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Sports and Entertainment practice groups. He focuses his IP practice on the clearance, prosecution and protection of copyrights and trademarks and the negotiation and drafting of licensing, technology development, franchise, merchandising, marketing, consulting and independent contactor agreements. Mr. Kouchoukos also advises clients regarding Internet, advertising and data privacy laws and reviews and drafts website development and hosting agreements, contest and sweepstakes rules, privacy policies and terms of use.

In his corporate practice, Mr. Kouchoukos assists clients with the formation and maintenance of for profit and non-profit corporations and limited liability companies, drafts related bylaws, consents, shareholder agreements and operating agreements and provides advice and counsel regarding the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and asset purchases (including, purchases of IP assets in bankruptcy sales).

Mr. Kouchoukos also has considerable experience in negotiating and drafting a wide range of entertainment industry agreements, including, sponsorship, film and television production, distribution, recording, music publishing, live performance, talent, management, collaboration, screenplay option and purchase and venue lease and license agreements.
 
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Kouchoukos served as Artist and Repertoire Director at Guidance Recordings, an independent record label and music publishing company he co-founded in 1996.

While attending law school, Mr. Kouchoukos completed Chicago-Kent’s nationally recognized intellectual property certificate program and was named to the Dean’s List from 2003 to 2005. He also received the CALI award for academic excellence in Advanced Research and Legal Drafting. During law school, Mr. Kouchoukos worked as a clerk in the intellectual property group of the law firm of Bell, Boyd and Lloyd (Now K&L Gates, LLP) and completed an externship with Lawyers for the Creative Arts, a non-for-profit organization providing legal services to clients in the arts and entertainment industries.
