About John Iurino

Mr. Iurino is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, in the Tucson office. He has 30 years of trial and appellate experience. Mr. Iurino has tried more than 30 cases to verdict or judgment and has argued more than 30 cases before the Arizona Supreme Court, the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Representative Cases/Matters

Mr. Iurino’s recent cases include:
  • Successful defense of the owners of a start-up mine management software company against claims of trade secret misappropriation brought by their former employer and dominant player in the field. Summary judgment was granted dismissing all claims and John’s clients were awarded over $500,000 in attorneys fees;
  • Representation of the owner of 40,000 acres of land in northern Arizona in R.S. 2477 litigation which successfully established public access to the property;
  • Prosecution of breach of contract claims for a national contractor against a school district for the construction of district buildings;
  • Successful defense of a CEO of a publicly traded company against securities fraud claims;
  • Representation of a real estate development company in litigation successfully challenging a referendum which would have overturned a multi-million dollar economic development agreement and tax incentives for the development;
  • Representation of a southern Arizona town in the successful defense of litigation filed by an adjoining city challenging an annexation which more than doubled the tax base of the town;
  • Defense of the managing members of a real estate limited liability company against breach of fiduciary duty and mismanagement claims filed by another member;
  • Representation of property owners in a large lot, rural residential development in litigation against the developer which successfully established the developer’s continuing obligation to maintain the sole access road to the development;
  • Representation of a minority shareholder in litigation involving a contest for corporate control and the attempt to force the exercise of a buy-sell agreement.

Mr. Iurino also has extensive appellate experience and has argued cases before the Arizona Supreme Court, both divisions of the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Representative cases include:
