Lewis and Roca Adds Fifteen Associates

October 2008

Lewis and Roca LLP is pleased to announce that fifteen associates have joined firmwide. Of these fifteen associates, ten will be joining the Phoenix office and five will be joining the Las Vegas office.

The new associates joining the Phoenix office include: Brooktynn M. Blood, Joseph A. Brophy, Nathaniel W. Edwards, Matthew H. Engle, Michael J. Hammer, Naomi O. Jorgensen, Myles Morrison, Travis A. Pacheco, Sarah Selzer and Travis M. Wheeler.

Brooktynn M. Blood joins the firm’s Tribal Affairs and Gaming practice group. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, Blood was an intern for Judge Samuel McVey in the Utah 4th District Court and also with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP. She received her Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University.

Joseph A. Brophy joins the firm's Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation  practice groups. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, Brophy was a legal intern with the Civil Division of the Office of the Attorney General and also worked as the Contracts Learning Assistant for the University of San Diego's Academic Support Program. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law (cum laude) and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of San Diego.

Nathaniel W. Edwards joins the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice groups. During law school, Mr. Edwards worked as a Couch Fellow. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Colorado.

Matthew H. Engle joins the firm’s Corporate, Securities and Tax practice groups. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, Engle was a summer associate with Lewis and Roca. He was also a legal extern for the Honorable James C. Mahan of the United States District Court, District of Nevada, and worked at Barron & Pruitt, LLP. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law (magna cum laude) and his Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University.

Michael J. Hammer joins the firm’s Commercial Litigation group. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, Hammer was an extern for the Honorable Judge Philip M. Pro of the United States District Court, District of Nevada. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law (summa cum laude) and his Bachelor of Science from the University of Utah.

Naomi O. Jorgensen joins the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group. During law school, she was a legal intern for the Civil Rights Division of the Arizona Attorney General's Office. Prior to law school, Jorgensen was a middle school teacher in the Sunnyside Unified School District and an elementary school teacher in the Houston Independent School District. She is also a certified Bilingual/ESL-Spanish Elementary Classroom Teacher. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law (summa cum laude) and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona (magna cum laude).

Myles Morrison joins the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, he was an intern with the Office of the General Counsel of the Regents of the University of California. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University (with distinction).

Travis A. Pacheco joins the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, he was a Judicial Intern for Judge Frank R. Zapata. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Arizona State University.

Sarah Selzer joins the firm’s Construction practice group. During law school, She was an intern at the Office of Governor Janet Napolitano's General Counsel. She also worked in the Education and Health Section of the Office of the Arizona Attorney General. Selzer received her Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law (cum laude) and her Bachelors of Arts from Wellesley College (magna cum laude).

Travis M. Wheeler joins the firm’s Insurance and Products Liability practice groups. During law school, Wheeler interned for the Torts Branch of the United States Department of Justice and was a research assistant for Professor Dan B. Dobbs. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia.

The new associates joining the Las Vegas Office include: Jacqueline Gilbert, Joseph Goldman, Christopher Pastore, Quinton Singleton and Nikkya Williams.

Jacqueline Gilbert joins the firm’s Appellate practice group. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, she was a judicial clerk for Justice Nancy M. Saitta at the Nevada Supreme Court. Gilbert was a summer associate for Beckley Singleton, which partnered with Lewis and Roca in 2007, and worked part-time in the appellate division during her last year of law school. She was also a legal extern for the Honorable Johnnie B. Rawlinson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and worked at the Longabaugh Law Offices. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law (summa cum laude), her Masters of Business Administration from National University (with distinction), and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois.

Joseph Goldman joins the firm’s Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation practice groups. During law school, he was an intern with the Legal and Compliance Division of Aozora Bank in Tokyo, Japan. He is also a certified CEFL and TESOL language instructor. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, Goldman was an English teacher in Barcelona, Spain. He received his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California (cum laude).

Christopher Pastore joins the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group. During law school, Pastore was a legal intern in the Criminal Division of the Pima County Attorney's Office. He was also a Staff Writer for the Arizona Law Review, a Couch on Insurance Fellow and participated in the Volunteer Lawyers Program. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law (magna cum laude) and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona (magna cum laude).

Quinton Singleton joins the firm’s Corporate and Securities, Taxation and Gaming practice groups. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, he was a Staff Accountant at Joseph F. Zerga, Ltd., and a Senior Auditor with Deloitte & Touche LLP, primarily providing services to the gaming and hospitality industry. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law (cum laude), his M.B.A. from Thunderbird School of Global Management (with honors) and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (summa cum laude).

Nikkya Williams joins the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice groups. Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, Williams worked for the United States Department of Defense as an Intelligence Analyst, including a tour of duty in the White House Situation Room. She received her Juris Doctor with a Certificate in Sports Law from Tulane University Law School, her Masters of Business Administration from Tulane University, A.B. Freeman School of Business and her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University.
