US Airways is focused on helping big dreams get off the ground. From packing emergency food boxes to collecting school supplies, US Airways is proud to support more than 100 nonprofit groups through employee volunteerism. US Airways’ Do Crew is made up of nearly 3,200 employees who participate in monthly community-based projects in Charlotte, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., and Winston-Salem. In 2011, the Do Crew contributed 20,000 volunteer hours. Employees who live in a city without a Do Crew also recognize that doing good on the ground is just as important as doing good in the air. They organize volunteer events by partnering with groups like the Children’s Museum in Denver and the local chapter of the American Red Cross in Harrisburg, PA.

The airline considers it a privilege to give back to the men and women who serve our country. In 2004, Sweet Delights Take Flight was created to honor and recognize active military members and veterans during the week of Veterans Day. Every year in US Airways’ hub and focus cities, employee volunteers deliver sweets to patients in veterans’ hospitals in appreciation for their distinguished service. In 2011, more than 2,200 veterans enjoyed a party organized and funded by US Airways to thank them for their service and help celebrate Veterans Day.

US Airways honors employees who volunteer at least 50 hours a calendar year through Flights for 50. The employee’s nonprofit organization may be eligible for a travel donation. In 2011, Flights for 50 distributed more than $40,000 in travel to groups including Pop Warner Little Scholars, Canine Partners for Life and the Community Food Connection of Blout County.

The US Airways Corporate Giving Program invests in nonprofits in the hub and focus cities of Charlotte, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. Investments focus on sustainable change and healthy communities in the key areas of education, economic self-reliance and arts and culture. In 2011, US Airways supported nearly 200 nonprofits with financial and in-kind donations through corporate giving.
