Lewis and Roca is pleased to announce the Holocaust Survivors Justice Network (HSJN), a legal assistance effort in which several of the firm’s attorneys volunteer, is a recipient of the 2009 American Bar Association Pro Bono Publico Award, the profession’s highest recognition for pro bono legal work.
The firm’s volunteer participants in the program include: Tucson based attorneys Gabe Beckmann and Sivan Korn, Las Vegas based attorney Emily Gubler Clark and Reno based attorney Caryn Tijsseling. Since affiliating, these attorneys have devoted numerous hours of time free of charge to work with survivors on the compensation claim-filing process.
Beckmann is a partner in the firm’s Corporate practice group. He practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate governance, structuring complex joint ventures and healthcare law. Beckmann also represents clients in connection with the formation, purchase and sale of businesses, equity and debt financings and real estate joint ventures.
Korn is a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group. Her practice focuses on corporate governance, shareholder and partner disputes, trade secret protection, and antitrust litigation and compliance counseling.
Clark is an associate in the Commercial Litigation practice group. She is a Las Vegas native and joined the firm after graduating from Columbia Law School in 2007. In keeping with the firm’s long-standing commitment to pro bono work, Clark has undertaken many pro bono cases during her tenure.
Tijsseling is a partner in the firm’s Construction and Commercial Litigation practice groups. She practices primarily in the areas of bankruptcy and commercial and business litigation. Ms. Tijsseling also has experience negotiating construction agreements. She is well-versed in green design issues and LEED certification requirements. She also litigates a variety of construction related commercial disputes, enforces liens and handles complex breach of contract cases.
ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS JUSTICE NETWORK
Organized by Los Angeles-based nonprofit law firm Bet Tzedek Legal Services, the HSJN is an international initiative established to assist Holocaust survivors in obtaining reparation payments under a program established by the German government.
